Central Jakarta Produced 5,940 Cubic Meters Waste

A total of 5,940 cubic meters of waste is produced every day in Central Jakarta. As much as 4,335 cubic meters disposed to Bantar Gebang, Bekasi, West Java. The rest isprocessed and recycled by the 3R system (reduce, reuse and recycle).

The most waste is produced from Gambir because there are several traditional markets there

Waste Bank to Raise Citizens' Caring

Head of Central Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Marsigit stated most of waste are produced from Gambir by 645 cubic meters,Tanah Abang 638 cubic meters, Kemayoran by 609 cubic meters, Menteng with 566 cubic meters, Senen 558 cubic meters, Sawah Besar with 528 cubic meters, Cempaka Putih by 413 cubic meters and Johar Baru 378 cubic meters.

“The most waste is produced from Gambir because there are several traditional markets there,” he said, Wednesday (8/26).

The rest of the garbage of 1,605 cubic meters per are recycled. In Central Jakarta, there are 96 waste bank, consists of 62 government office waste banks and 34 residential bank. The presence of garbage bank is sufficient to reduce the volume of waste dumped in landfill Bantargebang.
