MRT Construction Has Reached 30 Percent

Until September 2015, the construction of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) has reached 30 percent. Currently, it has been in subway drilling process by using Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).

The project has many obstacles such as regulation, construction, trees relocation, green belt erosion, utility, traffic engineering, and land acquisition

Director of PT MRT Jakarta, Dono Boestami stated, the project has entered the second year since the groundbreaking conducted on October 10, 2013 ago. "The project has been ongoing for 2 years," he stated, on the project point at Patung Pemuda, Senayan, Monday (9/21).

He said, currently the project of MRT corridor South-North 1 Phase 1 Lebak Bulus-Hotel Indonesia Roundabout overall has reached 30 percent. "Now it has reached 30 percent," he said.

In detail, he continued, on the flyover structure has reached 18 percent and the subway 43 percent. It is hoped could be complete in 2018.

According to him, construction project conducted now is creating foundation column path and flyover station. Then constructing subway station box and MRT depo.

He claimed it is not easy to reach the progress. There are many obstacles faced, including land acquisition. "Today it's entering subway drilling phase, it's not easy to be reached. The project has many obstacles such as regulation, construction, trees relocation, green belt erosion, utility, traffic engineering, and land acquisition," he explained.
