Arranging Taxi Boat, Transportation Dept. will Form BLUD

Jakarta Dept. of Transportation is about to form Regional Public Service Board (BLUD) to arrange the traditional boat or locally known as kapal ojek in Northern Jakarta waters. Boat's tariff will use rupiah per mil.

Andri Yansyah, Jakarta Head Dept. of Transportation, said he asked the boat owners to process Minimum Standard Service in form of boat safety and security certificate before BLUD is formed.

"There are 43 boats in Kali Adem dock. Nine of them have processed the documents," he said, Friday (9/25).

He targeted the document processing could be completed in October, or the boats will be banned to operate in Kali Adem dock.

"Yes, surely we must ban for those who have no the document," he uttered.

This policy, he continued, is an agreement between Jakarta Transportation Department with Kesyahbandaran dan Otoritas Pelabuhan (KSOP), and Sea Transport General Directorate of Transportation Ministry.

"Rupiah per mil tariff soon to be applied after BLUD is formed," he added.

Requirements must be met by the boat owners are license, seat completeness, life jacket, and emergency raft. Subsidy will be given after they completed the requirements.

"New tariff will be Rp 10-15 thousand. It's cheaper compared with today's tariff Rp 40-50 thousand," he explained.
