Today, Ojek Drivers Waiting Passenger on Sidewalk Raided

Starting for today, app-based or conventional ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers that use sidewalk as a base, will be raided.

"Starting for today, we raid those ojek drivers that wait for passengers on sidewalk by transporting their motorcycle,"  said Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Andri Yansyah, Monday (10/5).

He told, he is also planning to summon the CEOs of the ojek application.

Transportation Dept to Control App-Based Ojek

"We will warn them (Gojek and GrabBike) so that their workers would not do it anymore," he asserted.

Meanwhile, Head of Controlling and Operational Division for Jakarta Transportation Department, Maruli Sijabat stated will deploy his personnel to the field controlling the public transportation.

He added, previously officers had controlled Gojek base in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. That is by detaching banners on the base and evicting the drivers from sidewalk.

"The base is already rampant. They purposely wait for passengers there. Even yesterday, we detached banners  and evicted them," he uttered.

According to him, those drivers has violated Bylaw No.5/2014 on Transportation and Bylaw No.8/2007 on Public Order.
