City to Propose Regional Regulation Draft for HKI Protection

The City Administration will propose regional regulation draft (Raperda) about Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) protection. As planned, next year it will be proposed to Jakarta Legislative Council. But, public consultation towards the regulation will be conducted first.

Head of Rules of Law Division for Jakarta Law Bureau, Solafide Sihite stated, the consultation is purposely conducted to listen suggestion from various circles. Since the regulation involves various circles both industrialists and academics.

"Since it's the capital, we're trying to follow-up law terms in this HKI," she stated, at City Hall, Tuesday (10/20).
She disclosed, the regulation will be handed over to the council next year. Now is deepening the regulation draft that will be made. "For drafting the regulation still needs time to formulate it. I think it'll be handed to Balegda next year," she disclosed.
She added, the regulation does not only protect individual copyright, but also for companies. "The regulation is about industry and copyright, besides for individual, it's also for companies, even for property of local community," she disclosed
