Failed on Kir Test, Transjakarta Bus Operator will Be Sanctioned

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama wants Transjakarta buses failed on Road Worthiness Test (KIR) to keep being grounded, eventhough it will make the buses number operating decreased.

He wants to imitate the system like in Germani, where old vehicles will be grounded. Yet it can be reconditioned. "But if re-conditioning budget is higher than buying a new one, just buy it," he told.

He asserted, will give strict sanction if the bus operator does not take care of the bus well. They will be fined if the vehicles failed on the test for many times. "They will be fined if the bus failed again and if they don't want to repair it, discontinue the contract," he asserted.

As known, 400 out of 919 buses inactively undergoing kir test throughout January 2013-September 2015. It consists of 294 single buses and 106 articulated buses.

Besides, there are also 28 buses inactively undergoing the test within 3-5 years. It consists of 18 single buses and 10 articulated buses.
