Basuki to Check 2015 KHL's Formula

Jakarta Wage Agency has finally set the 2015 standard cost of living amounting to Rp 2.98 million. It is the basis for determining the 2016 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP). Nevertheless, Jakarta Governor, Basuki "Ahok" T Purnama will re-checking its amount.

KHL survey is now Rp 2.98 million. But we have to re-check it, whether the method is valid or not. We will summon the related agency

"KHL survey is now Rp 2.98 million. But we have to re-check it, whether the method is valid or not. We will summon the related agency," expressed Ahok, at City Hall, Monday (10/26).

According to him, the right survey is supposedly done in traditional market, instead of mall. This is because, items price that had been surveyed will be different in both locations. "Don't do the survey in the mall, we must re-check it," he stressed.

If the survey was valid, he continued, the city administration has had formula to determine the UMP, that is KHL amount coupled with next year's inflation. Thus, the UMP set would be higher than KHL.

"If our inflation reaches 4 percent next year, it means the UMP will be higher than KHL. It could be Rp 3 million next year. If it was only 2.7 million, it would only be Rp 3 million," he explained.

Ahok added that the formula is a precursor for other regions. Thus every year is no need for lengthy debate because the existing formula stated. "Kan Jakarta has always been to use the formula, we pioneer there is one formula," he closed.
