KHL Determination Refers to the Applicable Regulations

Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said that the determination of Standard Cost of Living (KHL), as the basis for Province Minimum Wage (UMP) determination, cannot be done simply based on the insistence of the labors. He stressed that it will refer to the applicable regulations.

According to Basuki, some of the factors in the 2015 Jakarta UMP determination are KHL amount and prediction of inflation rate that would happen.

Jakarta 2014 KHL will Be Set Today

“We predict the inflation would reach 10 percent, so the raise will not significantly grow from the 2014 Jakarta UMP as much as Rp 2.4 million. My prediction is the UMP next year would be around Rp 2.7 million,” he uttered.

Moreover, Basuki asserted that Jakarta Provincial Government is never afraid of the labors as well as entrepreneurs in determining UMP.

“We are not afraid. The determination of the 2012 UMP was calculated rationally. Then in 2013, the labors berated and accused us as cheap wage leader due to not accommodated the wage raising aspiration. This year, we’re accused for similar thing. The point is that Jakarta Provincial Government still refers to the applicable wage counting. If wanted to add components, please convey it to the (manpower) ministry, (because) we cannot (change the regulations),” he said.
