Beware of 12 Flood Prone Areas in W. Jakarta

The Maintenance Section for West Jakarta Water Management Sub-Dept recorded that there are 12 flood-prone areas that spread in West Jakarta. These prone areas are located in Jelambar, Jalan S Parman (Citraland), Jalan Kyai Tapa (Trisakti), Kedoya Greenville, Kedoya Green Garden, Rawa Buaya, Flamboyan-Cengkareng, Taman Palem, Kompleks KFT, Kembangan-Basoka, Palmerah Utara and Kembangan Pasar Minggu.

Based on the flood data last year, there were 21 flood-prone areas. They are Jalan Daan Mogot, Jalan Raya Kapuk-Kamal, Jalan Kapuk Raya, Perumahan Palem Lestari, Pendongkelan, Jembatan Gantung, Duri Kosambi, Jalan Arjuna Utara, Villa Kelapa Dua, Jalan Kebon Jeruk Raya, Jalan Panjang, Jalan S Parman, Jalan Latumenten, Jalan Kyai Tapa, Jalan Kembangan Raya, Jalan Meruya Indah, Joglo Baru, Jalan Asemka, Kecamatan Kalideres, Jalan Kamal Raya and Jalan Tubagus Angke.

Whereas, there are four buildings around Slipi, dispose waste water through the channel. As a result, water often overflows and spills into the road.
"We have built a control tub to normalize drains smoothly. It was installed with three meters distance along the drain," he expressed.
The all pumps in West Jakarta are ready to operate. But especially in Taman Ratu Pump House, Kebon Jeruk, its machine cannot operate well due to trash.
"The cause is not ideal of trash disposal placement. Thus trash that has been filtered is fall back to the water. We will do insulation soon," he uttered.
