Flood Predictably Still Happens in 125 Urban Villages

Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), predicts hundreds of settlements affected the peak of rainy season from January-February 2016. From the data for three years, floods have always inundated 210 RWs in 125 urban villages in Jakarta.

Among of those 210 RWs prone to flood are RW 01, 03, 06, and 07, Rawa Jati, Pancoran, RW 10, Kebon Baru, RW 10, 11 and 12 Bukit Duri, Tebet Sub-District, RW 06 and 08 Pejaten Timur, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

There are also RW 06 and 07 Cililitan Urban Village, as well as RW 03 Cawang Urban Village. Then is Pasar Rebo Sub-District, Gedong Urban Village, flood potential is in RW 03 and 11.

Tanjung Priok Sets Up Flood Post

Jakarta BPBD Head, Deni Wahyu Heriyanto disclosed, since three years ago, those 210 RWs are inundated with water level 3 meters at its peak in mid-2015.

"The flood does not different with last year. But the duration and its height would reduce," he predicted, Thursday (11/19).

He furthered it is due to massive draining water channel and river since mid-2015. Moreover, the infrastructures of water system had been improved.

"We also have added sluice gate at Manggarai. Then, the electrical substations to prevent damage to Pluit Dam have been built," he disclosed.
