Flood will Happen If Sheet Pile Not Installed, Basuki Says

Now, for anticipating flood problem in Kampung Pulo, East Jakarta is by installing sheetpile. If not, residential which are locate parallel with water surface will surely be flooded.

"It will be flooded of course if it's not installed with sheetpile," said Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Jakarta Governor, at City Hall, Wednesday (11/25).

According to him, eventhough there had been Kampung Pulo residents relocated to Jatinegara flat, but there are still residents remain to stay there. And there is resident individual (oknum) who refuses the installation.

He told that it is not only Kampung Pulo, Bukit Duri, South Jakarta will also be flooded. But the government along with the central government keep trying to reduce flood. "In Bukit Duri is also still flooded," he told.

As known on last Tuesday night (11/24), Katulampa Dam had been on alert 3 with water level reached 80 cm. The dam flows to Ciliwung River.  While those two areas are located on the riverbank.
