East Jakarta KPKP Deploys 200 Personnel to Examine Qurban Meat

East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency deployed 200 joint personnel to examine sacrificial animals (qurban) meat on Friday (7/31).

This year, we deploy 20 personnel in each sub-districts

Joint personnel were deployed to several slaughterhouses in 10 sub-districts in East Jakarta. Meat examination was carried out to provide safety and comfort for Muslims who consume the sacrificial meat.

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Section Head, Irma Budiany mentioned, 200 joint personnel were deployed from KPKP Sub-agency, KPKP Sub-district Unit, KPKP Agency, Agriculture Ministry, and Indonesian Veterinarian Association (PDHI) Jakarta.

5,023 Qurban Animals Have Been Examined in North Jakarta

"This year, we deploy 20 personnel in each sub-districts to examine sacrificial animals before and after slaughtering and to examine the meat," she informed.

According to her, recent number of sacrificial animals shelters and slaughterhouses in East Jakarta is likely to reduce by around 20-30 percent due to COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, there were 543 sacrificial animals shelters and 320 slaughterhouses. While this year, only 358 sacrificial animal shelters and 215 slaughterhouses.

"We remind slaughterhouses that can't be visited by personnel due to limited time for slaughtering, to keep following health protocols during the slaughtering process. Follow the advice that we have given," she asserted.
