5,023 Qurban Animals Have Been Examined in North Jakarta

As many as 5,023 sacrificial animals (qurban) in 52 animal shelters in 6 sub-districts in North Jakarta have been examined by personnel from North Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency.

59 of them didn't meet the requirements for qurban

North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto conveyed, qurban examination teams have been deployed since Friday (7/10). They have gradually examined qurban animals in 52 qurban animals shelter locations.

"Until this afternoon, we have examined 5,023 qurban animals. 59 of them didn't meet the requirements for qurban," he said, Wednesday (7/29).

He informed, total 5,023 qurban animals consisted of 315 sheep, 2,995 goats, 16 buffaloes, and 1,657 cows. While the 59 animals that don't meet the requirements for qurban where 50 animals are sick, 1 animal is disabled, and 8 others are not old enough for qurban.

Animals are considered sick when they have conditions such as weak, lack of appetite, have blister, eye pain, and diarrhea. For those animals, the team recommends seller to treat the animals before they are sold.

"For disabled animal, we were told that it was trampled by other cows during the shipping," he said.
