TIM's Takeover Not Oriented to Commercial

Jakarta Provincial Government is about to take over the management and development of Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM). However, the takeover will not change TIM's role as art center in Jakarta.

We're going to make master plane of TIM. But it's for artist and humanist center and not for commercial center

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat stated that the takeover from BPPJK to UPT will be participated by developer. Currently, the government is drafting master plane of TIM's development.

Djarot Optimistic KUA-PPAS Discussion Run Smoothly

"We're going to make master plane of TIM. But it's for artist and humanist center and not for commercial center," he said, Tuesday (12/1).

Eventually, he told that the master plane prepared will accommodate necessities and desires of humanist and artist. It includes gallery construction as works of art outlet.

However, he continued, the works displayed must be the best ones. They will be selected by curator board before entering TIM.

"In Ancol there is art market but the greater one is in TIM. So there should be curator board which completely selects the work entering, as for the promotion hand it to us," stated Djarot.
