Neighborhood Cleanliness Workers to Be Promoted as Freelancer

Jakarta Provincial Government plans to promote neighborhood cleanliness workers who all this time are managed by RT/RW to be freelancers managed by urban village.

East Jakarta Mayor, Bambang Musyawardhana stated the plan is initiated from the case happened in Kayumanis Urban Village, Matraman. Where the cleanliness workers complained about the low wage they got yet their duty is so heavy.

"The governor has instructed to recruit all cleanliness workers in RT/RW to be freelancers. They will be managed by the urban village head. But it is only a discourse," he stated, Wednesday (12/30).

His side is sure that governor will respond to promote the workers. Moreover he has planned to abolish trash charge in RT/RW. Eventually, the freelancers' wage is handled by the urban village side.

If they have became freelancers surely the wage reaches Rp 3.1 million per month. Unlike now that only about Rp 250,000-300,000 per month. But for the assurance awaits the go vernor's decree.

"About the diploma, it doesn't matter as long as they can work," he disclosed.
