15 Horses Enliven the Election Day

15 local and Netherlands horses enliven today's legislative elections 2014. The animals were deliberately involved by  Maintainer Security Agency (Baharkam) Police Headquarters to secure the election day in the city. Dozens of horses were deployed in various locations that are prone to violence.

It's for thickening the security patrols, for instance in the event of a large crowd, it effectively breaks down the mass by the horses

Police Headquarters Commander, Commissioner Nurdin said that dozens of horses deliberately prepared to anticipate if there is a violence or riot during the election. They were placed near the center of town, making it easy to be deployed. "We muster half of our strength, there are 15 horses are deployed at four points," said Nurdin, in Kebagusan, South Jakarta, Wednesday (4/9).

In addition to 15 horses, 70 police officers were also deployed. The horse existing is considered effective to break up the crowd. "It's for thickening the security patrols, for instance in the event of a large crowd, it effectively breaks down the mass by the horses," he added.

Polling station 035, Kebagusan, South Jakarta is one location where the horse was standby since in that location, the 5th President of Indonesia, Megawati Sukarnoputri voted. Moreover, since hundreds of people gathered around the polling stations, the existence of two horses that were placed at that polling station were proven to break down the mass so that Megawati family was going easily to the polling station that was not far from his private residence.
