Residents Complained of Scattered Trashes in Pulogadung Industrial Area

The residents and road users passing in Pulogadung industrial area, East Jakarta, are complaining the pungent odor coming from trashes scattered on the road. Based on beritajakarta.com observations, one of the locations of scattered trash is on Jalan Rawa Terate I. Not just scattering on the road, trashes are also piling and blocking the sewers there.

Wandi (45) is one of passing motorists who complained about this condition. “In the beginning, the trashes were only a few. Now, trashes are piling up in water channel. If flood happened, trashes would scattered all over the road, which is jeopardizing road users,” he lamented, Thursday (4/10).

Meanwhile, Ihsan, Public Relations staff of PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung, admitted that his party has picked up the trashes in small sewer. But for trashes in big sewer as well as on the road, it is the duty of East Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department to clean them. “We always coordinating with East Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department for trash handling matter in Pulogadung industrial area,” he added.

Responding this matter, Head of East Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Apul Silalahi, stated that his party will immediately pick up the trashes that are clogging the sewers as well as the ones scattered on the road in Pulogadung industrial area. In addition, East Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department will also clean the trashes on 169 rivers in East Jakarta.

“A River Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) also has been formed in December 2013. Its duty is to clean the trashes in all big rivers in East Jakarta. We will immediately arrange schedule for trash transportation,” he finished.
