Jakarta Governor Basuki T. Purnama was grateful that rain happens yesterday, Tuesday (2/9), not accompanied by tidal wave. "If this happens simultaneously, water from channel cannot flow to the sea," he said, at City Hall, Tuesday (2/9).
He admitted that the levee on the northern coast of Jakarta is not fully completed. If tidal wave happens, it will have an impact on a few locations in the coastal settlements.
Basuki to Check Car Ownership in the Flat"The levee is not ready yet, likewise with pumps in Sunter. That's why we ask the reclamation developer to finish it," he expressed.
Another issue is unfinished river normalization from the city administration and the central government. Thus some rivers are not able to accommodate water in large quantities.
"Flood can happen due to trash, small river, considering normalization has not been finished," he uttered.
