Lack of garbage trucks has made North Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department cannot cope with the increasing volume of garbage that the average volume reached 1,400 tons per day, rocketing from last year that only 200 tons.
Ideally, it takes another 50-60 trucks to transport the garbage volume reached 1.400 tons per day
While from 150 garbage trucks, there are only 60 units that are feasible to operate while remaining are in disrepair due to old age. This condition makes the garbage transporting runs slowly and lead to an accumulation in a number of locations.
As seen in the Waste Disposal Site (LPS) Jalan Muara Baru, RW 17, besides causing bad smell, the garbage also spilled into the street so it disturbs
the comfort of road users and local residents.Trashes Piling 5-Meter High, Kalianyar Residents Complained"We’re worry about this garbage pile can spread disease. If possible, do not wait for the garbage to pile to be transported," said Harko (27), a resident of RT 11/17, Penjaringan, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Sunday (4/13).
The garbage buildup also occurs at LPS on Jalan Danau Sunter Barat that is also spilling into the street because the transporting is not done every day. "It is usually transported in 2-3 days. It should be transported every day so that the garbage will not pile up," he commented.
Head of North Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Zaenuri admitted that up to now, the garbage transporting in his region is not optimal because of the lack of garbage trucks. As a result, there is often an accumulation of garbage at some locations.
Ideally, added Zaenuri, every urban village has one disposal site and one garbage truck. "Ideally, it takes another 50-60 trucks to transport the garbage volume reached 1.400 tons per day," he stated.
He said that the procurement budget for garbage trucks is still filed in the Supplementary Budget (ABT) Jakarta Cleanliness Department.
