Independent Candidate Must Collect 532,213 ID Cards of Jakartans

Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPUD) revealed that independent candidate on regional election (pilkada) must collect 532,213 ID cards of Jakarta residents.

Jakarta KPUD Chairman, Sumarno said, the number must be collected from at least 50 percent in the capital. In early August, the independent candidate must submit support to the KPUD.

"Independent candidate must submit support documents from Jakartans, minimally 532,213 ID cards," he stated, Thursday (3/10).

Pilkada Stage Will Begin at the End of April

He added it should be submitted early because it must be verified back. There are two verification stages to be undertaken, namely administrative and factual verification. 

"In such verification, we checked the numbers whether it is appropriate or not yet, and distribution should be spread out more than 50 percent of the city, at least four cities. Then the factual, the KPUD came one by one the people who provide support," he stated.

He admitted has not known the numbers that will come out on the upcoming Pilkada. In 2012, there were two independent candidates, Hendardji Supandji-Ahmad Riza Patri and Faisal Batubara-Biem Benyamin.
