Basuki to Eliminate Slow Lane of Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama plans to eliminate the slow lane of Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Thamrin. As compensation, a sidewalk along both roads will be widened up to 9.5 meters. Thus the passenger would be safer.

Later on, trees that planted on green belt would be relocated to the sidewalk.

Basuki to Discuss Reclamation with Ministries

He explains, to parse traffic jam, his party intends to build the rail-based transportation modes. One of them is Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) that still being constructed with corridor 1, Lebak Bulus-HI Roundabout.

"Why we want to widen the sidewalk? Because we want the passerby safe when they go out from the MRT," he explained.

He assessed, there must be an option in overcoming traffic jam. The city administration prefers to build rail-based transportation modes, accompanied by his support. "You have to choose, the items that will you buy in this world. If you widen road continuously, traffic jam will get worse," he finished.
