Basuki: Worker Demands is Very Troublesome!

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki T Purnama, assessed that labor demands regarding the increase of additional components in Decent Living Standard (KHL) from 60 to 84 components is such a troublesome. Those additional components are including the cost of buying the newspaper, pulse, up to perfume.

"If you (workers) sue us to raise the 84 components, we can still discuss it. But if it includes perfumes cost and so on, this is very troublesome. In economics, it is sometimes difficult as long as the economic demands and its offering is unbalanced," he said at City Hall, Friday (5/2).

Basuki declined to comment on the request of the labor-related costs are included in the perfume in the KHL and the urgency demands. "That's not our authority, please talk to the minister," he stated.

He acknowledged that it is a normal thing where employers to impose the economic system to seek profit as much as possible. Yet, the government has tried to suppress employers' selfishness.

"An employee should not be booed employers, that's why the KHL must be drafted. Even Jakarta Provincial Government has the most reckless of all over Indonesia, by increasing the workers' income in accordance with a standard KHL.

"There is no government like us," he stressed.

He assessed that he does not want to defend the employers and workers, but his party refers on the KHL. "I don't defend anyone. Regarding the increase in 60 becomes 84 or 120 components, it should be negotiated," he uttered.
