Pemprov DKI Lucurkan Dua Unit Kontiner Perpustakaan Keliling

Container Trucks Mobile Library, Gain Society`s Reading Passion

Jakarta Provincial Government provided mobile library to gain its citizen reading passion. Previous mobile library was using minivan car, but this time is unique. Two container truck units about 40 feet in shape, carrying 1,500 books on each container. Those trucks will go to all Jakarta areas.

The resident is able to borrow the book. The requirement is simple, just ask for member card to the officers inside the truck. They will provide it no longer than 5 minutes

Jakarta Head of Library and Regional Archieve, Agus Suradika, said those trucks are named Permata; Pepustakaan Masyarakat Jakarta (Jakartan Library). It is hoped the mobile library will gain the society's passion in reading. The mobile library budget is taken from last year's budget. Each container is completed with chair.

"The resident is able to borrow the book. The requirement is simple, just ask for member card to the officers inside the truck. They will provide it no longer than 5 minutes. For temporary, the trucks will be placed on Fatahillah Museum yard for two months. It's free," Agus explained, Friday (5/2).

Row Village Will Have Free Library

According to him, the other two trucks would be launched this year.

"Based on the report, about 300 people visited library in Kuningan. Book total is 1,300 books," he added.
