No LPS, Citizens Throw Trash on the Beach

The citizen’s behavior that often throws trash on the beach, RW 03, Kalibaru Urban Village, Cilincing is very unfortunate. Therefore, North Jakarta Administration should think an extra to resolve it.

Besides high trash volume, trash also pollutes the beach and potential to disease for local citizens.

RW 03 Chairman, Adiyono disclosed, this is because of unavailable trash disposal site (LPS) thus many people throw trash on the beach.

"We have not still found a solution, thus people prefer to litter," he said, Tuesday (8/30).

They are familiar with such conditions, even they use it to erect dwelling on it.

North Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-dept, Slamet Riyadi disclosed his side has difficulties to handle such matters. Besides lack of LPS, there are lots of buildings standing on trash heaps.

"The trash itself is increasingly jutting into the sea," he stated.

So far, his side does trash handling using cart and then transported using truck to be disposed to Bantar Gebang Landfill.

Trash transportation is also not without obstacles, trucks belongs Cleanliness Sub-dept cannot enter into the location due to dense populated area.

North Jakarta Mayor, Wahyu Haryadi admitted has ordered Head of Cleanliness Sub-dept, local headmen to find the best solution, including truck access in the field.

"Solution is by making LPS on the land, to facilitate trash transportation, either with cart or truck. Citizens have to remind each other the importance of maintaining cleanliness," he finished.
