Legal Basis Still Being Prepared for Krukut River Normalization

The city administration is preparing a legal basis for land acquisition in Kemang, South Jakarta. It relates to the acceleration of Krukut River normalization.

"We're still studying and preparing the legal basis whether the flood like this can be used as a reason to normalize," said Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama, at City Hall, Tuesday (8/30). 

Most lands in Kemang already have the ownership right certificate (SHM). Whereas they are located on the riverbank. Thus if the river was normalized, there should be land acquisition.

Heavy Equipments Arrived at Krukut River

"That is what I'm saying If I take over the land, you want to sue me, moreover its SHM. Which is why we have to find out the legal validity," he told.

He continued consignment will be done if citizens refuse to acquire their land. Thus it is worried hamper normalization plan. This year, there will be land inventory that affected normalization.

Such normalization is a must because river wide has narrowed. Formerly, the river had 20-25 meters wide and now leaves 3-4 meters. Even some points only have 1.5 meters wide.
