Security at Jokowi’s Home Office and City Hall Tightened

After Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo submitted leave proposal to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to compete in the 2014 Presidential Election, the security of the number one man in Jakarta Provincial Government is tightened. Not only getting security from the police, Jakarta Provincial Government also provides it. There are two vital objects that become security focus, namely Jokowi’s home office on Jalan Taman Suropati No. 7, Menteng, and his office at the City Hall on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta.

The security of those vital objects is marked with a Muster of City Hall and Governor Home Office Inner Security held at the City Hall, Wednesday (5/14). The muster is attended by 200 joint personnel of Indonesian Police/National Army and Satpol PP.
Acting City Secretary, Wiriyatmoko, said the inner security enhancement (pamdal) of City Hall and Jokowi’s home office is conducted to face the Presidential Election on upcoming July 9.

Besides, Jakarta is a national political barometer, thus its security stability has to be maintained to be an example for other regions.
“If Jakarta did not stable, it would affect to other regions in Indonesia. That’s why we tighten the security at the City Hall and (governor’s) home office,” explained Wiriyatmoko.
Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Provincial Government’s General Bureau, Agustino Darmawan, denied that this security enhancement is conducted because there was a threat against those vital objects. It is conducted merely as an appreciation to Jokowi who becomes a president candidate. Moreover, security is City General Bureau’s main job and function (tupoksi).
“There is no information of chaos or action that threats (the safety of) the City Hall or (governor’s) home office. This is only an inner security that becomes our main job and function, which is conducting inner security at the City Hall and home office. We will tighten the security for round a clock,” he uttered.
