Vesak, Buddhists Pray for City’s Development

Commemorating the Holy Tri Vesak 2558, hundreds of Buddhists in West Jakarta gathered to conduct rituals and prays at Kalyana Mitta Temple, Pekojan Urban Village, Tambora Sub-District, starting 1.30 AM, Thursday (5/15).

Before running the rituals, they first cleaned up the temple for about 30 minutes. The ritual process began at 2.15 AM, initiated with the taking of the blessed water, Pindapatta ritual, and then Samadhi ritual.
“Before conducting the religious rituals, we cleaned up the temple area in order to focus more in the Vesak commemoration worship,” stated a Board of Kalyana Mitta Temple, Romo Budianto Aji.
Improving Economic Growth, City Cooperates with KADINIn this Vesak commemoration, the Buddhists, especially in West Jakarta, are encouraged to pray for the development of the city to be better, and that inter-religious tolerance to be part of the society.
“We pray for Jakarta’s development to be successful, also the inter-religious tolerance should be part of the society,” he said.
According to Aji, Buddhists should also participate in national development for the nation and the state concern, as well as doing good things like the Buddha has taught.
“Buddhists should also take part in the development of good individual characters as the Buddha has taught,” he told.
