I am confused, we're still finding out the cause why Kemang suddenly flooded. Whereas, two or three years ago, the area was free from flood
Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama acknowledged he was confused with flood that flushed Kemang area. The area is supposed to be free from flood, because it is located on the high land than other areas in Jakarta.
"I am confused, we're still finding out the cause why Kemang suddenly flooded. Whereas, two or three years ago, the area was free from flood," he stated, at City Hall, Wednesday (10/5).
Flood in Kemang Recedes in 45 Mins, Basuki SaysHe added if it is seen from geographical location, water will flow from South towards North. If there is no tidal wave or locally known as rob in North thus it supposedly flows into the sea. Kemang area is still located in South Jakarta where the land is higher than North Jakarta.
"Logically, water flows into south towards north, if it flows into north, the rob will not high. As long as it is suck up, the rob won't pass on the dam. So I assure Jakarta will be free from flood or quickly recede," he expressed.
In three years ago, his party has done normalization in Kemang. Due to sense of safe, it had to be stopped.
Another anomaly perceived by Basuki, the flood occurred lately where its location always moving. Some cases occur due to clogged drains by objects that are not natural, such as old tires, canoeing, traffic signs, and others.
"Did you feel the strangeness? Flood moves to South Jakarta. Trunojoyo was flooded yesterday, whereas it never happens. It's like in Casablanca, it is certainly free from flood, but tire pieces suddenly incoming, I feel awkwardness here," he said.
