32,000 Ready to Safeguard the 2014 Presidential Election

As many as 32,000 personnel are ready to secure the implementation of 2014 Presidential Election, which falls on July 9, 2014.

"We will deploy our personnel assisted by 10,000 army personnel to secure the upcoming Presidential Election," said Chief of City Police, Insp. Gen. Dwi Priyatno, Wednesday (5/21).

According to Insp. Gen. Priyatno, the personnel has begun to spread to some vital objects, especially in offices. "Generally, we have deployed our personnel to vital objects, like Constitutional Court and General Elections Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) offices," he expressed.

Additionally, there will also be about 24 personnel to escort the presidential and vice-presidential candidates. "24 personnel will escort one person, which is divided into 3 shifts. Those consist of bodyguard, private secretary (sespri), and adjutants," he told.

But the police would not impose if each presidential candidate has had guards. "If they reject our personnel, we will only send a special safeguard at the residence or other locations. Importantly, the presidential election can run smooth and conducive," he ensured.
