Violating Traffic Rules, 15 Public Transports in Pondok Pinang Ticketed

Around 30 personnel of South Jakarta Metro Resort Police Traffic Unit have ticketed 40 vehicles on Jalan RA Kartini, Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, Thursday (5/22). Those vehicles were raided in the Simpatik Jaya operation that has been held since 9 AM.

"Our personnel is consisting of Transportation Department and Garnisun," said Chief of South Jakarta Metro Resort police Traffic Unit, Sr. Comr. Timin, Thursday (5/22).

The operation target is focused on vehicles that do not obey the traffic rules like do not turn on the lights for motorcycle, or violate traffic lights. Then, the checks on completeness of driver documents are also conducted, like driving license (SIM), vehicle registration (STNK), likewise with road-worthiness test (KIR).

"Our main target is motorists who do not turn on the light, not wearing helmet, and public transports pick up and drop off passengers haphazardly," he asserted.

Such operation also makes motorist panicked. Even, a motorist tried to avoid the operation, but it could be thwarted by the personnel. "If you have a complete document, why should afraid. We just enforce the rules here," he stated. 

During Simpatik Jaya operation, personnel do not give ticketing sanction to all vehicles. From the data, 24 motorcycles and 1 public transport are given warning. While 15 others are ticketed, consisting of public minivan D 01 (Ciputat-Kebayoran Lama), S 03 (Kebayoran Lama-Pondok Labu). "Ticketing is addressed to those who do not have a complete document," uttered Sr. Comr. Timin.
