Social Institution in W. Jakarta Needs More Capacity

People with Social and Welfare Problems (PMKS) seems still be difficult problem to be solved. From 250 people of institution capacity, there are 325 PMKS crowding Bina Insani Bangun Daya I (PSBIBD) social institution in Kedoya, Kembangan, West Jakarta.

With this condition, it means that the institution is over capacity. And another institutions almost has same condition

“With this condition, it means that the institution is over capacity. And another institutions almost has same condition,” Ruminto said, Head of PSBIBD Bina Insani Bangun Daya I Social Institution Administration, Tuesday (5/27).

Ruminto added, even though they were often raided, the presence of PMKS still often discovered. This is because of those PMKS are lazy to work and there is also no promising job opportunities that makes them back to the street.

128 PMKS Sent to Hometowns

Ruminto continued, according to the authority, he only could give PMKS guidance for 22 days and they have to be released after the period. This is causing PMKS returned to the street and raided again. Usually, PMKS will invade Capital City before fasting month comes.

PMKS arrival in the city comes from different access, such as trains, inter city-Inter province buses, hitchhiking trucks, and even many of them come to the city by walking. As a result, PMKS number increased until 200 percents in fasting month.

“We had netted 1,000 PMKS during fasting month. Most of them came from Brebes, Kalimantan, Cirebon, and Karawang," Ruminto continued.

According to him, there should be prevention effort from local government to avoid PMKS flocking Jakarta.
