20 Farmer Groups Ready to Plant Chili in Ciangir

Starting on February 1, Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Dept. is scheduled to plant chili in Ciangir, Tangerang. To conduct it, two farmer groups have been formed to plant 36-40 thousand seeds of chili.

There are 20 people of each farmer group. They will plant chili on a 2.5-hectare land

"There are 20 people of each farmer group. They will plant chili on a 2.5-hectare land," disclosed Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Dept. Head, Darjamuni, Saturday (1/28).

Chili Price Remains High

His dept. recently completed a manure application on land to be planted with chili. Each one hectare of land will be planted by 18 thousand seeds of chili.

"Yesterday, we completed a manure application, Insha Allah (God Willing) we began to plant chili on February 1," he expressed.

Currently, cooperation scheme between farmers with his dept. is still being discussed. He offers a revenue share of 50:50. But there are still offers from local farmers.

According to him, he cannot give scheme like farmer that is Jakartans that is 80:20 percent. This is because residents who conduct cooperation are from Tangerang.

"Agreement for revenue share results for Jakartans is about 80:20 percent. Because Tangerang farmer has different scheme, we offer 50:50 percent because all of us. We don't want to take advantage but the point is for the future development," he stated.

The land that will be planted by chili is about 30 hectares. It will be done gradually to maintain harvest cycle each month. Every month, 2.5 hectares of land will be planted.
