Pemda Diminta Stok Cabai Gunakan Pengemasan Vakum

Council Proposes Vacuum Packaging Method for Food Products

Jakarta Legislative (DPRD) proposing the use of a vacuum packaging technology to keep a stock of chili or other food products to be more durable.

If the food is not stored, the price cannot be controlled, which is why this technology needs to be upgraded

Jakarta DPRD Commission Member, Syarifuddin disclosed, the long-term storage method should be considered as one of the provincial government efforts to control the rising chili prices.

"When chili is abundant and cheap, it can be packaged using vacuum method up to 5-10 kg, so the stock will remain intact," he stated, Tuesday (1/31).

Council will Supervise Relocation of Senen Market Sellers

He assessed, cold storage method is not suitable for chili. This is because it cannot last long compared to vacuum storage technology.

"It has been tested in some big supermarkets and chili can persist more than one month," he told.

He hoped, the Pasar Jaya could apply the method during wholesale construction. By so, packaging method could control the rising price and other food products, especially ahead of Ramadhan.

"If the food is not stored, the price cannot be controlled, which is why this technology needs to be upgraded," he finished.
