Jakarta Provincial Government is going to buy a machine of controlled atmosphere storage (CAS). The machine can be used for storing fresh vegetables and fruits in order to maintain the stability of the stock and the selling price.

"Today, Food Station and Pasar Jaya will go to Kudus to see the machine. Considering it can accommodate tens of tons and can store until six months," said City Secretary, Saefullah, Thursday (3/2).

According to him, there will be two machines bought. Per unit is appreciated at Rp 5.5 billion. 

With the machine, when prices rise, the commodity is distributed to stabilize it. The city also has program to maintain price stabilization such as rice, chicken meat, beef, chili pepper and so forth.

"Based on this year's Food Station report, a rice need in Jakarta is relatively safe. We also request training in the flats to prosper the occupants," he stated.

Such machine has the technology to maintain the composition of the CO2 that is higher than O2, and is kept constant. Thus fruits and vegetables can be kept fresh for a long time.
