Reported by Erna Martiyanti | Translated by Nugroho Adibrata
As many as 1,000 joint personnel are prepared to banish the arrival of people with social welfare issues (PMKS) in the capital city. But before conducting raid, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed first by Jakarta Social Department and City Police to have clear rules.
We’ll do socialization to the residents and tell them not to give alms to PMKS on the streets
“Those personnel consist of 700 men from Social Department, Satpol PP, and City Police, and 300 janitors from Cleanliness Sub-Department. They will be placed in PMKS-prone areas like red light (intersections),” stated Head of Jakarta Social Department, Masrokhan, Tuesday (6/17).
Basuki: PMKS Control Will Be More HumaneAccording to Masrokhan, his party cannot act alone, thus cooperation from various parties is needed. Joint personnel will hold raid against PMKS in three areas, namely protocol roads in five municipalities (ring one), provincial roads in five municipalities (ring two), and residential or secondary roads in settlements (ring three).
The MoU signing is conducted so the three institutions involved know clear rules. The raid will also have clear legal umbrellas, namely Bylaw No. 8/2007 on Public Order and Instruction Governor No. 53/2013 on the Implementation of Guidance, Control, and Supervision against PMKS.
“
We’ll do socialization to the residents and tell them not to give alms to PMKS on the streets ,” told Masrokhan.
