Anticipation Prepared to Minimize PMKS in E. Jakarta

The PMKS is routinely coming to Jakarta every Ramadan to seek living by exploiting the people generosity for alms

Ahead of the fasting month, thousands of people with social welfare problems (PMKS) are predicted to besiege some areas in the capital city, such as red light junctions, shopping centers, worship places, until public cemeteries. Therefore, the East Jakarta Social Department has prepared any anticipation using persuasive step to reduce the vulnerability, particularly beggar. 

Head of East Jakarta Social Sub-Department, Masyudi disclosed 40 personnel have been prepared to anticipate the PMKS. Those will be assigned to control and socialize the bylaw No.8/2007 on Violations of Public Order. "The PMKS is routinely coming to Jakarta every Ramadan to seek living by exploiting the people generosity for alms," he stated, Thursday (5/22).

Prone to PMKS Areas in East Jakarta Secured by Officers

According to him, persuasive step is conducted as an action to protect the PMKS from the bylaw No.8/2007. they are classified as PMKS consists of vagrants, beggars, buskers, and psychotic. "If the PMKS remains ignore our rule, we will net them," he stressed.

He added that public role is very important to minimize the existence of the PMKS in Jakarta. That is why, he urged people not to ban giving money to beggars as one of anticipation.

"Based on Bylaw No.8/2007 Article 40 mentions the violator will be sentenced at least 20-90 days in jail or pay fine amounting to Rp 500,000-30,000.000," he told.
