In the upcoming August, Jakarta Provincial Government is going to relocate street vendors around Monas to Lapangan Monas' IRTI. According to Joko Kundaryo, Head of Jakarta Small Micro and Medium Enterprises Cooperation (KUMKP) Department, his department is preparing a guidance location (Lokbin) to accommodate street vendors in Monas area. Due to the limited kiosk, only a few will get kiosk.
We're making preparations to accommodate street vendors through verification phase to get 339 kiosks
In August, he predicted, the vendors can already occupy the Lokbin. While waiting for its construction, they should undergo the verification phase. "We're making preparations to accommodate street vendors through verification phase to get 339 kiosks," said Kundaryo, Wednesday (6/18).
Monas Street Vendors will Be Revitalized through CSR Program
There are several criteria that must be met to get the kiosk in Monas' IRTI. Thus, not all vendors will be facilitated. Those who are categorized as old trader would get priority, considering the amount of them in Monas has increased sharply. "Besides the Monas is prohibited to be used as business place. So, it does not mean we should evict them and find a place as well, because its amount reaches thousands.
Additionally, his department also has conducted socialization to vendors since the beginning of this year related with the relocation to IRTI Lokbin. Later on, they would get training which is a program of corporate social responsibility (CSR) from PT Sosro. The training will run for one week to serve good and healthy food to the buyer.
The food price will be set. This is because, many visitors are complaining the high price of food sold in Monas. "The vendors will also get plates and uniforms as well. We also set the food price, because many buyers complain the high price of food sold at the Monas," he asserted.
