Involved in Human Trafficking, Nightclubs’ Operational Permit Will Be Revoked

Jakarta Provincial Government will take firm action to hotels and entertainment venues in the capital city if they were proven involved in human trafficking and abduction acts. Beforehand, an Indramayu girl initialed S (15) was allegedly abducted and forcefully employed in a hotel and bar in Mangga Besar, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta.

“ If its management proven involved (in that case), the venue’s operational permit can be revoked ,” stated Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, Arie Budhiman, to beritajakarta.com, Wednesday (6/18).

According to Budhiman, his department cannot abruptly decide and seal or revoke the operational permit of that entertainment venue since there has not been report regarding its involvement. Besides, the one who has the authority to do so is Satpol PP.

“I’m waiting for a report, whether there was involvement of the hotel management or not,” he said.

Meanwhile, S admitted that before employed in prostitution business in two nightclubs in Jakarta, she was invited to come to the city by his brother’s friend named Pepi because she has not been to Jakarta. So, she went to Jakarta by travel shuttle bus. During the trip, she was asked to work as a clothes washer. But when she got in Jakarta, she was immediately taken to a hotel in West Jakarta.

“I stayed in that hotel for three days. After that, I was sold to a man named Abun and I was given Rp 3 million. But, I was told to serve three to four guests in a night,” she disclosed.
