Container Box Truck Fell, Jalan Gedong Panjang Severely Congested

Traffic congestion happens along Jalan Gedong Panjang until Jalan Bandengan Utara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Tuesday (6/24), due to a container box truck stuck in a portal and then fell. Luckily, there was no casualty reported in this incident because the traffic was relatively quiet at that time.

The residents had warned the truck driver not to pass the portal. But, he kept on speeding

The incident began at 5 AM when the truck at a high speed was coming from Jalan Bandengan Utara towards Jalan Gedong Pajang. When passing the railway bridge portal as high as 3.5 meters, the truck got stuck and then fell. Until 1 PM, the container box still has not been evacuated by the officers. As a result, severe traffic congestion is unavoidable.

Ali (33), a resident of RT 02/13, Penjaringan Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-District, admitted the local residents had warned the truck driver not to pass the portal. Unfortunately, their warning was ignored.

“ The residents had warned the truck driver not to pass the portal. But, he kept on speeding ,” told Ali.

Dwi, an officer of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Region I, explained that the portal was deliberately installed as a safety rail bridge. Because of that, high vehicles will be bated by the portal.

Meanwhile, Penjaringan Metro Sector Police Traffic Unit Chief Comr. Sugeng stated that his men have parsing the congestion in the location since morning.

“The entrance location is Tambora area. We’ve coordinated with the local administration,” he said.
