Ramadhan is closing, but Boker red-light district is getting crowded. East Jakarta Administration must control it. Or else, the residents would get angry and take action on their own

Although fasting month is only days away, there is still no sign the Boker red-light district in Ciracas, East Jakarta, would be closed. In fact, the district located near Kopassus Headquarter, Cijantung, is more crowded by the customers.

Local residents who feel restless requested East Jakarta Administration to take firm action. In addition to closing Boker red-light district, they also requested the government to close down dozens of traditional massage parlors which allegedly used as sex business. Thus, the residents’ worship activities in the fasting month could run well and undisturbed.

Responding on this matter, Head of North Jakarta Social Sub-Department, Masyudi, admitted has not done control yet because his party must coordinate first with Satpol PP and related units.

“We also have yet to collect the data of commercial sex workers there. Later, we’ll coordinate the control and closing of Boker red-light district with East Jakarta Satpol PP and Ciracas Sub-District apparatuses,” he stated.

For information, based on East Jakarta Tourism Sub-Department data, it is recorded there are 79 entertainment venues in the municipality. From that amount, 24 venues must be closed down, including massage parlor.
