As many as 50 vehicles will get opportunity to be part in the trail of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system. Those vehicles will be randomly selected, particularly vehicles which often pass on Jalan Sudirman.
Later, those who want to get free trial will be recorded, everyone would register. If tweeted, who want to get OBU trial, everyone would also want it
Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama is optimistic the owners of chosen vehicles would be enthusiast in following the trial. Moreover, the installation of On Board Unit (OBU) in their vehicles will be free of charge.
“Later, those who want to get free trial will be recorded, everyone would register. If tweeted, who want to get OBU trial, everyone would also want it. But, we arrange it for vehicles often passing there (Jalan Sudirman),” he stated at City Hall, Friday (7/4).
ERP to Be Tested on July 15Basuki hopes the ERP trial could be on time as scheduled, which is this mid July. At this time, a company from Sweden named Kapsch is installing ERP gates, which one of them is located in front of Panin Bank on Jalan Sudirman, Central Jakarta.
As for the tariff to be imposed, Basuki cannot confirm it yet. According to the study, the tariff is Rp 23 thousand if the amount of vehicles reaching 1,500 units per width per hour.
“If more than that, we’ll raise the tariff. But if less, we’ll reduce the tariff. Just like that,” he said.
According to Basuki, the expensive ERP tariff will be balanced with the availability of free double-decker buses. This is because ERP aims to reduce the amount of private vehicles on the streets.
“That’s why we prepare free double-decker buses. If you were broke (don’t have money), just leave your car and ride free double-decker bus. So, there is no excuse,” he uttered.
Until now, Jakarta Provincial Government has not appointed the companies which have followed ERP trial. This is because the auction process of ERP construction is using the City Budget (APBD).
“We’ll hold auction since it uses our money (APBD). We’ll use commission system later,” he told.
The ERP system is targeted to be permanently implemented starting next year, and is predicted to run normally starting 2016.
