Lack of Maintenance, 20 Garbage Truck Damaged and Neglected

Due to lack of maintenance, as many as 20 garbage trucks owned by East Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department are neglected at the office of Cleanliness Sub-Department on Jalan Pinang Ranti II, No. 56, Makasar Sub-District, East Jakarta. Whereas, Jakarta needs a lot of garbage trucks to transport at least 6,000 tons of garbage every day to Bantar Gebang Landfill, Bekasi.

Since 2011, we've asked the Financial Management Body (BPKD) to delete those trucks from asset listing, thus it does not burden the operational costs

As quoted by Beritajakarta.com, those garbage trucks condition is very worrying, like without wheels, body and its bath has been porous. "Dozens of garbage trucks are neglected due to lack of maintenance where lot of spare parts have been missing," he expressed, Thursday (3/7).

Deputy Head of Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Isnawa Adji admitted similar condition is also spotted in other Cleanliness Sub-Department offices. Generally, the cause of the damaged garbage trucks is old and some dented due to collisions.

City to Rent Garbage Trucks

"Since 2011, we've asked the Financial Management Body (BPKD) to delete those trucks from asset listing, thus it does not burden the operational costs," said the former Head of Tambora Sub-District.

Adji revealed after the trucks are deleted, the BPKD could auction off them. At this time, the Cleanliness Department has received 77 granted trucks through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from private side. "Through ULP, we will get 143 new garbage trucks this year for old trucks rejuvenation," he told.
