Oil Waste on Pantara Island Waters Cleaned

Seribu Islands Environment (LH) Sub-dept. personnel has cleaned up oil waste that polluted seawater on the east side of Pantara Island. Oil waste sample will be taken for investigation to determine the source of pollution.

Seribu Islands LH Sub-dept. Head, Yusen Hardiman mentioned, oil waste pollution is happened on Saturday (3/10) morning. Personnel are deployed to clean that waste from the area.

Water Pollution in Tidung Island InvestigatedThe waste sample will be taken to Ministry of Environment and Forestry for further research. Then it will be separated since it is categorized as hazardous and toxic material (B3).
"We will also inform to SKK Migas and coordinate with CNOOC," he added.
Meanwhile, Seribu Islands Regent, Irmansyah wants those who pollute the area to be responsible in order to maintain environmental sustainability.
"Currently, we don't know the culprit yet. But after we found out the culprit, we want them to take responsibility by cleaning beaches in several islands," he stated.
