Jakarta Holds Gerebek Sampah at Jakarta Coastal Bay

Gerebek Sampah was held at Jakarta Coastal Bay, Cilincing, North Jakarta on Sunday (4/15). Around 1,000 people participated in this event. This event was run for National Waste Care Day (HPSN) 2018 commemoration and it is hoped can encourage people to care about their environment cleanliness.

This is a part of our caring movement to realize Jakarta Bersih 2020

Jakarta Environment (LH) Dept. Head, Isnawa Adji said, this event involved around 1,000 people from SKPD, students, police, TNI, and others communities elements. Besides, 12 waste trucks, two heavy equipment, and thousands trash bags were prepared for this event.

"This is a part of our caring movement to realize Jakarta Bersih 2020. Both Jakarta land and water must be kept clean," he affirmed, Sunday (4/15).

North Jakarta Mayor, Husein Murad added the location was chosen because it is far from settlement thus out of reach.

"Since it is far from settlements and out of reach, it needs more concern. Thus today all communities components are involved in Gerebek Sampah," he stated.

Meanwhile, Environment and Forestry Ministry's Waste Management and B3 Director, Novrizal Tahar mentioned, we should concern waste and manage it well.

"We need to fight plastic waste. If we can't manage and recycle it, then it would be better to limit its usage," he stated.
