500 Staples Packages Sold Out in Less Than 2 Hours

“We provided 1,000 subsidy coupons which distributed to the residents. Some of them got staples coupon, while others got egg coupons. But, there were also residents got both coupons. It depends on RT/RW officials who know the condition of their residents and managed everything,” uttered Head of South Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department, Nurjanah.
Besides 500 staples packages which sold out in less than two hours, as many as 200 kilograms of chicken eggs were also sold out in just 30 minutes. Thus, the event organizer had to sell non-subsidy eggs, but with price still below market price.
Cheap Market in Central Jakarta to Sell Staples Half Price“Today’s quota of subsidized eggs was 200 kilograms which priced Rp 16,000 per kilogram and sold using coupons. But then 100 kilograms more eggs were brought out and sold for Rp 18,000 per kilogram, without coupons,” she told.
In addition, there were also 2.5 tons of rice sold for Rp 37,000 per five kilogram, sugar Rp 0,000 per kilogram, and flour Rp 7,000 per kilogram. This cheap market will be held until tomorrow, Thursday (7/17).
“Indeed, this cheap market is held to help the residents who need staples in affordable price. We really hope to hold more of this event often,” stated South Jakarta Mayor, Syamsuddin Noor, when opening the cheap market.
Noor admitted happy with the participations from retail companies that have CSR program like this. This is because they provided goods worth Rp 40,000, but the residents only need to pay it for Rp 20,000.
“This is definitely helping the residents, especially since staples price keeps increasing ahead of Eid ul Fitr,” he said.
Kasmirah, one of the residents flocking to the cheap market, also admitted happy because she can buy eggs in cheap price.
“Egg price in the market is Rp 21,000 per kilogram. I only got one coupon, so I bought two kilograms of egg with price Rp 18,000 per kilogram,” she expressed.
