PT MRT: We Have Nothing to Do with Gas Pipeline Leaks on Jalan Sudirman!

The PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) asserted that the gas pipeline leaks on Jalan Sudirman, precisely in front of the Jakarta City Police Headquarter, is not their project. This is because they currently do not exist any project at that location.

Certainly, there was no coordination with PT Telkom regarding utility excavation in the field

Jakarta PT MRT Director, Dono Boestami disclosed there is no excavation or drilling on the MRT project. Thus he was sure that the leak does not come from the project. "The leak is not coming from the MRT project, but PT Telkom," he stressed, Thursday (7/17).

Nevertheless, his side will still recheck the location whether there is excavation or not by PT Telkom. "Certainly, there was no coordination with PT Telkom regarding utility excavation in the field," he asserted.

MRT Project Constrained by Land Acquisition

At this time, project conducted by PT MRT on Jalan Sudirman is road or detour construction. The impact of this project is sidewalk for pedestrian become narrower, leaving only 1.5 meters. In Istora Senayan area, at least four points are being carried out, which is on the west side of front of Senayan Golf Driving Range and front of Senayan entrance. While on the east side is located in front of the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) and front of the Jakarta Stock Exchange (BEJ).

Then for utility project is located at Blok M and Jalan Sisingamangaraja. The project aims to construct an elevated road along the corridor Lebak Bulus-Fatmawati-Blok M-Sisingamangaraja.

As known, a gas pipe was leaked on Jalan Sudirman and caused fire in front of Jakarta City Police Headquarter. It happened around 11.25 PM, Wednesday (7/16). No wonder, traffic congestion could not be avoided, starting from Semanggi towards Senayan. There was no casualty reported in the incident.
