City Disparbud Holds Lenong Betawi Festival

Jakarta Tourism and Culture Dept. (Disparbud) holds 7th Lenong Betawi Festival at Jakarta Art Building, Jl. Kesenian, Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta.

"It is done as one of our efforts in supporting and finding new talented Betawi artists," mentioned Gumilar Ekalaya, Jakarta Disparbud's Cultural Arts Division Head, Monday (7/16).
This festival is held on July 16-20 and participated by 25 groups. Around four to five groups are performed in a day. There are three judges who assess their performance. Those are Nano Riantiarno from Teater Koma, Yayok as Betawi Humanist, and Aditya Gumay from Sanggar Ananda.

Meanwhile, the 7th Lenong Betawi Festival Committee Head, Qubil AJ mentioned, the winners will get trophies, charters and prize money. First prize winner will get Rp 25 million, second prize winner Ro 15 million and third prize winner Rp 10 million. While for first runner up will get Rp 7.5 million and second runner up will get Rp 5 billion.
"We hope Lenong Betawi Festival can foster participants love towards Lenong Betawi and encourage young generation to learn Lenong Betawi," he stated.
