Chief of City Police, Ir. Gen. Dwi Priyanto urges residents not to conduct takbiran (public parade praising Allah) in the capital.

"Please, don't do takbiran using pick-up car or stand on the roof of the vehicle," said Priyanto, Friday (7/25).

According to him, he would act decisively against people who conduct Takbir in Jakarta. Even, the vehicle will be grounded by police. "We will act firmly," he asserted.

Such policy, he explained, is made to prevent traffic accident or unwanted things that can be detrimental to people. "Stand on the roof of the vehicle is very dangerous, as well as detrimental to themselves and others," he told.

He disclosed residents should celebrate takbiran in the mosques. "Takbiran should be done in the mosque, but not on the streets because it will disturb the comfort and order," he urged.

He added that his side will conduct security in some mosques. "We'll safeguard some mosques that hold takbiran until Eid prayer. Especially mosques that have many worshipers, and in strategic position," he said.
