Around 2,164 bollards or known as sidewalk safety iron are installed in East Jakarta area. It is targeted there will be 3,015 bollards in the forthcoming December. 

In total, we plan to install 3,015 units in the near future. And the rest are still awaiting sidewalk arrangement

East Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-dept.'s Sidewalk and Utility Network Section Head, Anto Marpaung stated that bollard installation is conducted after the sidewalk arrangement is almost done. It is aimed to prevent motorcycle, car, illegal parking, and PKL on the sidewalk.

"In total, we plan to install 3,015 units in the near future. And the rest are still awaiting sidewalk arrangement," he stated, Monday (10/1).

According to him, the bollard that has national standards has 80 centimeters height with upper diameter 15 centimeters and bottom diameter 25 centimeters.

The bollard itself is made of fiber composite. Thus if it is burned it can damage and become ash. It was deliberately done to prevent theft from thousands of existing bollards.

"In addition to safety for pedestrians and disabilities, it is also for the beauty of the city. We urge the citizens to maintain it, as this is all from public money as well," he stated.
