Basuki: I’m Ready to Finish the Home Works Left by Jokowi

Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama admitted ready to finish the home works that will be left by Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo. There are five books of home works that will be passed on to Basuki when he becomes Jakarta Governor.

“Yes, it has to be like that. Whatever he (Jokowi) wanted but has not been done must be passed on to me. This is political risk, must be ready. There are many home works he gave me,” said Basuki at City Hall, Thursday (8/7).

Even so, Basuki is optimistic those home works would be finished with the help of the civil servants in the environment of Jakarta Provincial Government.

“It can (be finished). We’re going to change the Organization and Methods Bylaw. Later, there will be mass inauguration. We want to change many things, including the five (governor’s) assistants. We hope it would finish this year,” he disclosed.

According to Jokowi, if later Jokowi was inducted as Indonesian President for year 2014-2019, there will be policies that still connected to Jakarta Provincial Government. This is because regional leaders are the extended arms of central government to make policies for their own regions.

“Governor is the extended arm of central government. Moreover, I’m actually sitting on the position of provincial governor as well as governor of the capital city,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Jokowi acknowledged that indeed there are many home works he left to Basuki as his replacement. Those home works include flooding problems, traffic congestion, and housing which need to be resolved immediately.

“There are five books of home works left. The most prioritized to be resolved are things related to flooding, traffic congestion, and housing,” he told.
